Another Cutest Kid EVER

This cutest kid EVER was born in February - the 11th. Yep, it's April now. So sue me. Here's the scoop....

Lincoln Alan Schmidt (Alan is after my Dad, Alan Barrie Best) was born on February 11th at 4:10 p.m. He weighed in at 7 lbs. 15 oz. and was 20 1/2 inches of pink baby perfection!

He was much more cooperative than his older brother Parker, who resisted a few forced attempts to bring him into this crazy world. Lincoln, on the other hand, was gently invited and BAM! There he was!

Ashley, did an exceptional job.

This is the AFTER picture. Really. See the tiny little babe in her arms? Doesn't she look amazing. I never looked that good BEFORE giving birth.

THIS is before:

OK, not really, but close.

My gorgeous daughter about to have a baby!!

I couldn't be more excited about being a grandma again! I'm very blessed to have been there for this birth as well! Jon stayed home with our kids and played Mr. Mom for a week. He did a great job. The kids didn't miss me at all.

Does he look like ME??

We got little Lincoln off to a good start with his very own iPod and some really great tunes. He was rockin' out to the Rolling Stones.

He is actually taking his first test, which he passed with flying colors - top of his class as a matter of fact! His hearing is perfect!

Parker took the whole event in stride. First thing he wanted to do with Lincoln was play ball.

Parker is super sweet with Lincoln. Whenever he sees him he does this really cute "Awwwwww" in a high squeeky voice. Then he lays on a great big kiss!

A great big brother!

Lincoln is a wonderfully perfect addition to our family. We are soooo excited to watch him grow!

We love you Lincoln!!

Parker Ellis Schmidt

Can I just tell you how cool this guy is?

The coolest.  Anyway, it's pretty late and I haven't slept for about 41 hours, so I don't have time to blog the whole story (it's a REALLY long story!), but I will tomorrow.  For now I just wanted you to know about Parker and......

my beautiful, amazing, wonderful daughter who just gave birth to this really cool guy.

No News is Bad News

When you're waiting to give birth that's the truth! Ashley is still very pregnant. She's taken walks, been to the mall and even cleaned house! Nothing. So tonight we're going to a baseball game (Frisco Roughriders) and I'm making her eat a big ole hot dog! Stay tuned....

PSYCH!!!

So Ashley's not like me. She spent the night at the hospital, IV in this morning with the labor inducing drug. Nada. Nothing. Not even one centimeter at 4:00. She's coming home. If she doesn't go into labor on her own, we'll try again on Monday. MONDAY? Are you freaking kidding me? I'm not that patient. I'm an immediate gratification person. I'm taking her to the mall. Put on your walking shoes, Ashley!

Here We Go!

I just left Ashley and Sam in the hospital! If all goes as planned, we'll have a new baby in our family tomorrow! I'm so excited I can't stand it!

The Most Brilliant Grandbaby EVER!

I really hate to brag - ok, not true, I have no problem bragging about my children! But I absolutely have the most brilliant grandbaby ever. Mind you, this child is yet to be born. Ashley is about halfway through her pregnancy and had an ultrasound last week. We were pretty sure it was a boy from a gender prediction test she took over Thanksgiving, and indeed, it's a boy. Everything looks great, and one picture in particular proves how brilliant this little guy really is. Check it out! Pay particular attention to his little hand.

Cool, huh? He's already communicating with his Mom and Dad. Brilliant! To see more photos of the wee one, check out Ashley and Sam's blog. The link is on the left.

Oh My Goodness!!

The best news deserves it's very own post - not that all the other kid's news isn't good, it's just this is REALLY good. Ashley is gonna have a BABY!! She's twelve weeks pregnant, which makes her due date April 29, 2008. She and Sam are very excited - as are the rest of us. OK, well, Jon isn't thrilled about the idea of being a Grandpa, but he's really happy for Ashley ad Sam! They've even heard a little heartbeat. And Ashley has been feeling great.

Speaking of Grandpa, I'm a little concerned about what this, certainly adorable little thing might be calling the mother of his/her mother. Now, I only ever called my Grandparents, Grandma and Grandpa. Jon's Grandmother was 'Mimi" and his grandfather was "Pappy." None of those are really working for me. So, I could use some help in the "what to call me" department. Please comment and give me your ideas. My dear, sweet brother, Rich, has already had a little fun with it. I'll let him comment further, if he desires. I'm serious, I have some time before the baby is speaking and can actually utter a name, but I have this feeling that Sam will be immediately referring to me as "Granny," or "Nana" or something even more scary! So please help.

But seriously, we are so thrilled for Ashley and Sam. Ashley will be the BEST mother ever, and this child will be ultra talented because he/she will play sports AND sing! Way to go Ash and Sam - we can't wait to meet the new little Schmidt!
