First in Wisconsin and now here in Texas. I've seen them, but thankfully, never too close for comfort. Since I've lived in Texas, the Oklahoma City area has suffered twice from large, devastating tornados. In 1999, my family drove up and helped in Norman, Oklahoma and it was a truly humbling experience. Pictures never quite do the horrific aftermath justice. Now, just over a week ago, they have been hit hard again. Harder, in fact. With company in town and the last days of school at hand, it's been difficult to actually travel to provide the much needed assistance.<br />
<br />
So, we're doing what we can from right here in our own small Texas town.<br />
<br />

<br />
Hopefully it will be quite a party! We have hot dogs and chips being donated by a local church, bounce house and slide by my friend's business, music by the one and only <a href="https://www.facebook.com/lucyschollmusic" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Lucy Scholl</a>. We are asking those who attend to donate the urgently needed goods and of course money to assist in the relief in Little Axe, Oklahoma. Little Axe hasn't had the attention that Moore has, so they desperately need our help. I'm so happy to be able to really DO something to help - from home. <br />
<br />
If you live in the area (even outside Prosper) I hope you will come and join the fun.... and bring some batteries or duct tape!!<br />

At some points I was creating children or memories. Other times I sewed, painted, scrapbooked. I really enjoy creating and I came by this quite naturally. I have a mother whom I watched create my whole life.<br />
<br />
Here are two paintings I have in my home that my mother painted many years ago. I love them and wish I had more...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKHiMIU4kgxwMVfyCUCF01UKJEaH9Oxp6tsV5SnEcIkEjUa2ab-aJvhEMRJMfHYkU2kSCBXFXOQufPyEK6ks_xqsxGfXR5taUf3xK3P_XAdgUhl9zDOUpTNC0C8zwtAX-PUd9djp54IpE_/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKHiMIU4kgxwMVfyCUCF01UKJEaH9Oxp6tsV5SnEcIkEjUa2ab-aJvhEMRJMfHYkU2kSCBXFXOQufPyEK6ks_xqsxGfXR5taUf3xK3P_XAdgUhl9zDOUpTNC0C8zwtAX-PUd9djp54IpE_/s320/photo.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizGa-XE9wdyIZTEHcV5gqdnBY5MLEKi3-JZc1A_JouYNsYH4bYZaEyzLhom0D4sRK0NyCsXHYsWjwbEcXJekvDZomQ6igYvHFSo8gGatZ8QT6TpVSo5ikocrIBoEUdk-dIyWKezxAS2lMz/s1600/photo-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizGa-XE9wdyIZTEHcV5gqdnBY5MLEKi3-JZc1A_JouYNsYH4bYZaEyzLhom0D4sRK0NyCsXHYsWjwbEcXJekvDZomQ6igYvHFSo8gGatZ8QT6TpVSo5ikocrIBoEUdk-dIyWKezxAS2lMz/s320/photo-1.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My mother is now 82 years old. You'd never know it - she looks fantastic. But she's still creating. Here's her latest project. It's hanging on her front door. It has the photos of four generations of our family ages 6 months - 84 years old. </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOJjYSJu1FHWlIDeYQi4m7tsqIHDjUPqQY6fgzfulLqPpzXMkHeFrYB3LaPHviXVfCW_o65mPypdzLc33prvWQwJl9obPpE2zZ-MjBAkaw3VmHGNRsq7idqrYq4_gh0sodGqgb3yplEjhR/s1600/Screen+Shot+2013-05-18+at+12.32.45+PM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOJjYSJu1FHWlIDeYQi4m7tsqIHDjUPqQY6fgzfulLqPpzXMkHeFrYB3LaPHviXVfCW_o65mPypdzLc33prvWQwJl9obPpE2zZ-MjBAkaw3VmHGNRsq7idqrYq4_gh0sodGqgb3yplEjhR/s320/Screen+Shot+2013-05-18+at+12.32.45+PM.png" width="237" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Pretty sure that's me, behind the ribbon. Maybe my mother is ashamed of me??? Just kidding. Anyway, isn't it great??</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The letter came from the craft store... you know the ones. She painted it red with acrylic paint.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
She printed the photos, all in black in white on regular bond paper the size she needed. (Around an inch and a half)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then she used Mod Podge to decoupage the photos onto the letter.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The frame came from Michael's and she painted it black (you could buy a black one)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
She stapled a ribbon loop that went around the top of the frame and the ends are stapled to the back of the letter so the letter is now suspended from the frame. The she tied a bow with two colors of ribbon and attached it to the ribbon that's holding the letter. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The frame is hanging from a wreath hanger on the door. (The kind that hangs over the top of the door.)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Pretty cute, huh? My mom rocks.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I've lost the one and only key somewhere in my house. Which tells me, instead of sitting here waiting, I should be somewhere else cleaning out and organizing. But I digress. I thought it might be a good time to quickly post on my very, very neglected blog. As you see, in my last real post, Will turned 12. Yeah, well, he's 15. It seems too much time is passing without having accomplished what I would like. A case in point: I just glanced over to my right and this is what I saw<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbJ1b0V_J9gpWKJjakcQjVkafme9y0s_YzWDj7SEjONoqB8Mxu8hDvY8kZbzQeDAjcFyNNilgWy_qpn3rvwaSwMxku7l4MpFJC9eXXfJPF_PxTSzr4RHc_XkNdzhod7c0DKt8ckRrnoO26/s1600/photo-2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbJ1b0V_J9gpWKJjakcQjVkafme9y0s_YzWDj7SEjONoqB8Mxu8hDvY8kZbzQeDAjcFyNNilgWy_qpn3rvwaSwMxku7l4MpFJC9eXXfJPF_PxTSzr4RHc_XkNdzhod7c0DKt8ckRrnoO26/s400/photo-2.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
March 28. It's April 8th. How are there so many things in my life that are behind, or not happening? I have to get with the program. And now, after watching four sessions of my church's bi-annual conference (which is a highlight of my year) I have so many things to add to my list of important things to do... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I will not be discouraged. I will just DO IT. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So here is a blog post. It's not imperative, or even important, but it's something I've had on my list that I can now say I've done. And to make it more worth your while, I just have to show you what Will, our 12 year old in the last family post, looks like today. Good lookin' guy.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Maybe I should keep this up.</div>

My cup runneth over. This quote was taken from just one of many talks that left an imprint on my heart. There are so very many ways I can, and need, to improve my life, but also, so many ways I have been richly blessed. I'm grateful.Karenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17367545271547691319noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9178433468987494305.post-62679731466462240722011-10-02T10:43:00.002-05:002011-10-02T10:53:20.360-05:00One Year Later.....I took a whole year off. I guess I really have no good excuse, but I need to start recording our family story again. Not that we have a particularly exciting story to tell, but because I want to remember. I want to remember the little things that happen in our day to day living along with the bigger events that shape our lives. The kids often ask me about things they did as babies or even several years ago and sadly, I often can't remember. After five kids, things are kind of a blur sometimes and I wish I remembered more. Scrapbooks tell mostly the big stuff - the first days of school, holidays and other special events, but I think, if I can get better, blogging will help to capture those moments that you may not be able to photograph, but are worth remembering. <div><br /></div><div>So, here I go. I'll try to not be an annoying blogger. I'll try to paint a true picture of my family, so when we look back to answer those questions like, "who was that girl that lived in the next building who always wanted to ride my Big Wheel?" we just might be able to check out the blog and answer that question.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Karenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17367545271547691319noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9178433468987494305.post-72154825296042277722010-10-03T10:34:00.000-05:002010-10-03T10:35:41.891-05:00And We Had a Party!So, we don't throw big parties for our kids every year. But this year, being the special year that is was for Will, he got a party. We decided on a movie theme and had a movie outside in the back yard.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNI5d05tLj22Y1KE8fKg-BM1Xa5BT1P2LsGBOPMhGEmDZaoNWFy1HKdfkcdxse57Hk-3GknRcSN0yOl9SmJ-k3XVNuFMO1Ok81CuxiDZWj_loSP7UM68c5o2bltG0QulTqLbZQf92ls72d/s1600/IMG_1019.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNI5d05tLj22Y1KE8fKg-BM1Xa5BT1P2LsGBOPMhGEmDZaoNWFy1HKdfkcdxse57Hk-3GknRcSN0yOl9SmJ-k3XVNuFMO1Ok81CuxiDZWj_loSP7UM68c5o2bltG0QulTqLbZQf92ls72d/s400/IMG_1019.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5523839334280528706" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">We set up a concession stand where we served all the regular theater treats!</div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWGW3uzsNWQCQAmxyUz1YoTj15MU2Of0kMVGbvHuICfx92Z-7daIHwRaXrg0Q-jqT6o7x4dtWogWnU_BmLdcvONv4XcmXwmRsZzoUuQtgd6HVbJq6KtlegSjmAATLNAoBSFVOCN70J1ERq/s1600/IMG_1018.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWGW3uzsNWQCQAmxyUz1YoTj15MU2Of0kMVGbvHuICfx92Z-7daIHwRaXrg0Q-jqT6o7x4dtWogWnU_BmLdcvONv4XcmXwmRsZzoUuQtgd6HVbJq6KtlegSjmAATLNAoBSFVOCN70J1ERq/s400/IMG_1018.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5523839331401320178" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Hot Dogs, Nachos, Popcorn, Drinks, and candy were enjoyed by all!</div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQJ-UaVzzIWZ3opfFTweTSV7vw5sZ8a3eBFrwvm1HfWLgZVVtMUvuLn4eDsReNQnuxgI5QS2gb2vQ9fTKjcam8P6MSddRRCNCvaCZrR6b3ZYMrbute_0aeVvQyyN3BNlP5XdoKHntgr7G_/s1600/IMG_1022.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQJ-UaVzzIWZ3opfFTweTSV7vw5sZ8a3eBFrwvm1HfWLgZVVtMUvuLn4eDsReNQnuxgI5QS2gb2vQ9fTKjcam8P6MSddRRCNCvaCZrR6b3ZYMrbute_0aeVvQyyN3BNlP5XdoKHntgr7G_/s400/IMG_1022.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5523839340359424930" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Karen insisted on M&Ms to go with the popcorn. </div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYc97gUiutVhDGjqeMhmc5vd6xzKjP7RKgWOaG28B34cnK9pftvB6b5La1lXish4t3BgB37xIJ87n5I4twNw8jKK75Orxl8WmJxbaUI7cqptJbL1U0xmx28wNX2ViyKjr8W1dGq-Uee2LF/s1600/IMG_1023.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYc97gUiutVhDGjqeMhmc5vd6xzKjP7RKgWOaG28B34cnK9pftvB6b5La1lXish4t3BgB37xIJ87n5I4twNw8jKK75Orxl8WmJxbaUI7cqptJbL1U0xmx28wNX2ViyKjr8W1dGq-Uee2LF/s400/IMG_1023.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5523839872987408066" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">A homemade, birthday cake, too! Will turned twelve! Turning twelve is important for a couple reasons. One, you get a cell phone, which is very cool, but not as important as the second, which is you receive the priesthood. In our church worthy young men, at the age of twelve, are ordained Deacons in the church. There are important responsibilities that come with being a Deacon. We are sure Will is up to the task and are excited for him to take this step.<div><br /></div><div>Here are some photos that marked this great day.</div><div><br /></div><div>Opening presents is always entertaining with Will!</div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV9o42qvK8UnkOSDzQyTbQkvAUzOyUbBlwe23AYQo1kJ2djTJ-syUNkupHbS6Py4SXI2XqTLPd_pwYIxp1E-5_ocqto3br5FlK-ikmnsLLU_1eok_UXiiRIwB5fmZQ0-C6l_dYNCjpNl_x/s1600/IMG_5031.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV9o42qvK8UnkOSDzQyTbQkvAUzOyUbBlwe23AYQo1kJ2djTJ-syUNkupHbS6Py4SXI2XqTLPd_pwYIxp1E-5_ocqto3br5FlK-ikmnsLLU_1eok_UXiiRIwB5fmZQ0-C6l_dYNCjpNl_x/s400/IMG_5031.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5523578405192067170" /></a><br /><div>While opening his gifts, a phone started ringing - and ringing - and ringing. West!<div><br /></div><div>Our church held a Pioneer Trek for the the youth 14-18 and Jon and I were asked to be Ma and Pa for a "family" of seven kids. The three day journey covered lots of miles of rugged, muddy trails. We cooked our own food, walked, played pioneer games, pulled our handcart, sang songs, pulled and walked, slept in tents, walked and pulled and had a wonderful experience.</div><div><br /></div><div>This is our family. We were asked to pick a name for our family from a pioneer in our own family. Since my parents are the pioneers in the gospel in our family, we chose BEST. It was a great choice! We got a lot of mileage out of being the BEST family!</div><div><br /><img src="http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs323.snc3/28773_10150173667890577_792615576_12061179_6681757_n.jpg" /><br /><br />Seth Burgess, the husband of our old friend Katie Hercules Burgess was one of the photographers on Trek (we were asked to NOT bring cameras, to keep the experience as realistic as possible). He took some absolutely beautiful photos.<br /><br /><img src="http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs323.snc3/28773_10150173667750577_792615576_12061161_1042920_n.jpg" /><br /><br />Lucy with her Trek family. Lucy was asked to carry a baby for the three days. This was more challenging than you'd think.<br /><div><br /></div><div><img src="http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs323.snc3/28773_10150173667770577_792615576_12061164_7657219_n.jpg" /></div><div><br /></div><div>A Women's Pull was held. All the men and boys were asked to go off and serve in the Mormon Battalion and the women were left to pull the handcarts alone. At one point there was a huge ravine that required running downhill to gain enough momentum to get most of the way up the other side. It was all the more challenging because of the amount of mud on the trail. In places the mud was knee deep! All the families helped each other and everyone made it. We were muddy and tired, but we felt a great sense of accomplishment.</div><div><br /></div><div>Lucy and her sisters during the Women's Pull.</div><div><br /></div><div><img src="http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs323.snc3/28773_10150173668325577_792615576_12061240_7900703_n.jpg" /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><img src="http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs323.snc3/28773_10150173668655577_792615576_12061285_5426214_n.jpg" /></div><br />One evening a really nice program was presented. Lucy was given a speaking part and had a solo to sing. She did a beautiful job and made her mom (me) cry. It was very touching to hear the stories of those who sacrificed and toiled to make their way to the Salt Lake Valley to worship and live in peace.<br /><div><br /></div><div><img src="http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs323.snc3/28773_10150173668835577_792615576_12061308_4539418_n.jpg" /><br /><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><img src="http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs323.snc3/28773_10150173668990577_792615576_12061330_4034938_n.jpg" /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>The weather was crazy. I got sunburned the first day, rained on the second day and snowed on the last day. Because of the weather, we had to leave early the last day. Everyone was wet and tired and unable to get warm and dry. We were blessed to have warm homes and showers to return to - the real pioneers weren't so lucky.</div><div><br /><div><img src="http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs323.snc3/28773_10150173667935577_792615576_12061186_3464504_n.jpg" /><br /><br /></div><div>Later that afternoon we all gathered at the church for a testimony meeting. What a wonderful blessing and surprise to be individually greeted by Elder Dallin H. Oakes. He shook the hand of every single person in attendance. He had planned to meet us out on the trail as we completed our journey, but the church was the next best thing!!</div></div><div><br /></div><div>I'm so glad we had the opportunity to be a part of such a great experience. Seriously. She's down to earth, witty, talented, humble, witty, cute, sweet, witty. She writes a mean blog, too. Did I mention she's witty? I love to read her blog. You know how some blogs are "look what I can do" kinda blogs? Their purpose seems to be to draw attention to themselves and have the world think they are something they most likely are, but only on a very good day? Not PW. Her blog is so not that. It's hilarious in a sort-of self-deprecating-kind-of-way. She can make fun of herself, she tells it like it is and doesn't pretend to be something she's not. For example, she will take a photo of her sink FULL of dirty dishes. or the pile of <i>stuff</i> she swept off the floor - lest you assume her home is always in perfect order. She talks about being a little "jiggly" from all her fabulous cooking (which by the way, I've seen her. She's not the least bit jiggly!). She has normal children, a cute cowboy husband she calls Marlboro Man and shares her life, her friends and her family with thousands of strangers from all walks of life, all over the world. AND, she's written and published a cookbook! Impressive, eh?</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">I bought one.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Then I marched down to Borders in Dallas a couple weeks ago to have PW herself (Ree) sign my little cookbook. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">What I didn't plan for was the fact that it wasn't an original thought. I was one of merely 800 people who decided a little chat and an autograph would make my cookbook complete. And since I hadn't even considered that fact, I showed up at 6:45 for a 7:00 signing! Hahahahaha! Let's just say I was near the end of the line (in the 7th group of 100). I seriously considered going home. But, I'd driven for 30 minutes, parked in a dark alley and walked in the rain to get my cookbook signed. I was staying gosh darn it. So I did. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">I stood in line. I sat on the floor. I read the book I had in my purse for moments (or hours) like this. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Then, the coolest thing happened. I started talking to the women in line with me. First two, then four, then pretty soon it was nearly a dozen. We talked about PW, we joked and laughed and learned about each other just a bit. After a couple of hours we were all Facebook friends! And then someone - not sure who - came up with a brilliant idea! (OK, it was me -not really) To form the <i>P-Dub Supper Club. </i>How cool is that? Our first meeting is in January and everyone is bringing a PW dish to share. I think it's just the most fun! I can't wait to see all my line ladies again and learn more about them. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#0000EE;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=""><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#000000;">Here we are - well almost. The one in the blue in the middle is an impostor. And the lady on the far left, though she was very nice, didn't make the club, either. (Kidding, she just wasn't part of that conversation) And the photographer IS part of the club, but you can't see her - because she's taking the picture. </span></span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMz2Vm-N_ifY_tdN6HuIGNusqu2AUAQwXk1WTij1-B6vRqBHw40Xy4xFisJKqEhgm5RtZagAIA_CVq6zb6ugXvTD2U8cPkHxdgoZuLFMI3THeSXLK88j_HgeWmR-sYczvs0s7EgXtqQhF7/s1600-h/IMG_4411.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMz2Vm-N_ifY_tdN6HuIGNusqu2AUAQwXk1WTij1-B6vRqBHw40Xy4xFisJKqEhgm5RtZagAIA_CVq6zb6ugXvTD2U8cPkHxdgoZuLFMI3THeSXLK88j_HgeWmR-sYczvs0s7EgXtqQhF7/s400/IMG_4411.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5415159392799812978" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px; " /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>It's such a fun group! It will be interesting to see if her sound is different.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Thanksgiving 2009</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">We had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Pretty much all you need to do is mention you've seen an airplane before and he'll take you for a ride! For real. Well, last week he had a super duper good excuse for taking the plane (which, btw, needs a name - don't you think? More on that later.) out of the hangar and up in the air. Our nephew, Bryan, is stationed at Fort Hood now. He's been there just over a month and just our luck, he agreed to come to Dallas for Thanksgiving! Jon thought that sounded like the perfect job for him - leave the house the day before Thanksgiving. Sneaky, eh?</div><div><br /></div><div>So he flew down to Killeen to pick up Bryan and took a couple little passengers with him. William and the neighbor boy, Jack.</div><div><br /></div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-l6ExsucF-PwF6H6UhUtB2oVe5dRoV5MU7k-hGCfPo2m9NjewFMf7Fh1TLevabubRxS5lH1PPwE36w-_3U5_IcHyFI6yLN3a7UL5dtaTwtO2ChZtseF58fS7b0wVaufXIXwG8aAOEJRyA/s1600-h/IMG_4381.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-l6ExsucF-PwF6H6UhUtB2oVe5dRoV5MU7k-hGCfPo2m9NjewFMf7Fh1TLevabubRxS5lH1PPwE36w-_3U5_IcHyFI6yLN3a7UL5dtaTwtO2ChZtseF58fS7b0wVaufXIXwG8aAOEJRyA/s400/IMG_4381.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5410832207245099650" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 267px; " /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Jack and Will pose with the plane.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXAFK13dSsi6K8-5KzxpasZx7wns0tHiSzee2m3rIl8LBaNrScw_lQVf6TqI9A8tvGFtb7SNtF0mkSgyHHxwsSUJacCIXIGl8hfLGcRcJNw6f2ID3TWFz56KcdQzkrezS3IGHsQyPUltEb/s1600-h/IMG_4386.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXAFK13dSsi6K8-5KzxpasZx7wns0tHiSzee2m3rIl8LBaNrScw_lQVf6TqI9A8tvGFtb7SNtF0mkSgyHHxwsSUJacCIXIGl8hfLGcRcJNw6f2ID3TWFz56KcdQzkrezS3IGHsQyPUltEb/s400/IMG_4386.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5410832213882931810" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px; " /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Jack taking his own picture in the back seat!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Bryan loves to fly and hopes to get his own license someday, so he was happy to climb on board. I haven't mentioned it to him. But I think it would be cool for the 195 (airplane) to have a name. It's such a cool plane. So, I'm asking for your help to name the airplane. There are plenty of photos on the blog of our family flyer if you need some inspiration. Leave a message or two, or three with your suggestions. I guess there should be a prize. If we pick your suggestion, we'll take you to the Blue Pig in Ardmore, OK for lunch. Now, if you live in Hawaii or some other remote location, you either have to get yourself to TX, or we'll have to come up with another prize (or if there is absolutely no way you are getting on a small plane)! And the prize would be equally as wonderful, so don't be bashful!Karenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17367545271547691319noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9178433468987494305.post-17546430706468904552009-11-27T20:11:00.024-06:002009-11-27T22:38:58.472-06:00For Mom - You asked for it!<div style="text-align: left;">Recently my sweet Mother wrote on my Facebook wall, <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#333333;">"Your mother is waiting for an update on your blog!!!"</span> Okay, so it's been a while... but I've been busy! So she stayed home from school. For six days. So she got to hang with Mom (and Dad, since he got it, too) for a while. She got to watch some TV, which was a super rare treat since we <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:x-large;">NEVER</span> watch TV during the week. She drew some great pictures, slept, read some books, slept, watched Mom bake and run around, and slept.</div><div><br /></div><div>On one day, when Molly was feeling a little better, we went to lunch together. We had hoped to go to Lucy's Grille in Celina (a favorite for fried pickles), but when we got there it was <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:x-large;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#FF0000;">CLOSED!!!</span></span> Oh no! The sign said they will re-open - they are under new management. They better have fried pickles! So, instead we drove down the road to Sonic and sat outside to eat our lunch.</div><div><br /></div><div>This is what we did when we got home:</div><div><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiN_QE0lrIX62xDo0_Wbi0yZCGDEKT2P3neTvFz7gEcmldXI8DrUt5xJn0o2GYL26a_v_BsBgg-uKwQ6xfYM-dQ2e9hFI7_Lz2WsdUys6YaBRyepo00eB6E6dNPuA-8LJue6k5N4px1dR2q/s1600-h/IMG_0717.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiN_QE0lrIX62xDo0_Wbi0yZCGDEKT2P3neTvFz7gEcmldXI8DrUt5xJn0o2GYL26a_v_BsBgg-uKwQ6xfYM-dQ2e9hFI7_Lz2WsdUys6YaBRyepo00eB6E6dNPuA-8LJue6k5N4px1dR2q/s400/IMG_0717.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5389141746997716866" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px; " /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Built a pirate ship!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">The Sonic kids meals (Whacky Packs) have pirate gear right now and Molly got the ship. So she was dying to put it together. Now this cute little pirate ship kit came in a KIDS meal, right? Well, let me tell you - this was no task for a KID! But, Mom managed to git 'er done, and a mighty <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:x-large;">fine</span> pirate ship she is!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiivTCBLRCptv2D6qKawMTlpzvaKBeArp7R0GXh73IOVfJaB87PF_vf7UW_w6bxe_kOaMFDGDQ1F7nrZ56iQ3LQXyrFa2EmTzP09VS67A7eLCAccq2lDTwgvRR28KOL3FiYEwO17AYDT2TR/s1600-h/IMG_0719.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiivTCBLRCptv2D6qKawMTlpzvaKBeArp7R0GXh73IOVfJaB87PF_vf7UW_w6bxe_kOaMFDGDQ1F7nrZ56iQ3LQXyrFa2EmTzP09VS67A7eLCAccq2lDTwgvRR28KOL3FiYEwO17AYDT2TR/s400/IMG_0719.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5389141758585707042" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px; " /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>I'm happy to report that Molly has returned to school, Jon has almost completely recovered and we are enjoying some fall weather!</div>Karenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17367545271547691319noreply@blogger.com1
